Cool gusts roll down the steep green peaks surrounding Klaksvík, ruffling Max’s black-and-white coat and Felix’s sleek black fur. The two companions walk side-by-side past resting fishing craft, listening to the gentle clacking of halyards against masts and taking in the crisp salt air.

With quick Border Collie instincts, Max lunges forward just in time to intercept the trailing line before it disappears beneath the surface. He clamps his teeth firmly around the coarse wet hemp, planting his paws solidly on the damp wooden planks.

As the wind catches the rowboat's high wooden sides, the line pulls taut with sudden force. Max braces his legs and leans back stubbornly against the heavy drag, his tail tucked low as his footpads slide slightly on the slick deck.

Unfazed by the commotion, the black cat bounds up onto a sturdy timber mooring post just a few paces away. Felix looks down at his struggling friend, meows sharply, and taps the side of the bollard with a black paw to point out a clever solution.

Understanding Felix's silent instructions immediately, Max keeps a tight grip on the hemp rope and begins marching in a tight loop around the post. The coarse line wraps neatly around the base of the bollard, taking the burden of the boat's weight off Max's jaws.

The friction of the wrapped hemp catches firmly against the weathered wood, holding the heavy rowboat in place. The wooden dinghy gently bumps against the dock's rubber fenders, safely anchored against the wind.

With the boat safely secured, Max releases the damp painter and shakes out his coat with an enthusiastic wag of his tail. Perched triumphantly on the bollard above, Felix reaches down with a gentle paw to pat Max’s nose in quiet approval of a job well done.
